How do we measure success?

Success in assisting someone with a disability can be measured in a variety of ways, depending on the individual’s specific goals and needs.

Common Measures of Success

Improvements in physical, cognitive, or social abilities, such as being able to walk further, communicate more effectively, or interact with others more easily, may result in improved functioning.

Helping someone with a disability become more independent and selfsufficient can be a key measure of success. This could include being able to manage daily activities like bathing and dressing without assistance or living independently in their own home.

Enhanced quality of life: The ultimate goal of assisting someone with a disability is to improve their overall quality of life.

This may include being able to participate in activities they enjoy, having better relationships with others, and feeling more fulfilled and satisfied with their lives.

Achieving personal goals: Because each person is unique, they may have specific goals and aspirations. Helping someone achieve these goals can be considered a form of success.

Meeting objectives: In some cases, success may be determined by whether or not specific objectives or goals are met.

Meeting developmental milestones, improving test scores, or achieving specific physical or behavioural goals are examples of this.

Finally, the most important measure of success is what is most meaningful to the individual with a disability and their loved ones.

The MyCare team collaborates with our participants as carers to identify their specific goals and priorities, as well as to assess progress towards these goals on a regular basis.

The goals for our participants are identified and worked towards with weekly or daily activities during our care service times. Our goals become achieving our participant’s goals. That’s the MyCare Living way.
